   Jan Otten was named for his paternal grandfather. Jan Otten age 23 & Geertruyd, with 2 yr. old son Otto came to America from Amsterdam, Holland to Bedford, Long Island (New Amsterdam) now New York on April 16, 1663 on a ship named "De Bonte Koe" (The Spotted Cow). Jan Otten (Age 25) & Geertruyd Janse Van Pelt were married about 1660 in Holland and had 8 children.

  After Jan Otten's death, Widow Geertruyd married her 2nd cousin, Teunis Jans Lanen Van Pelt on Aug. 6, 1696 in Flatbush, Long Island. She took twin sons Abraham & Isaac to New Utrecht (now Brooklyn).  He was over 70 when they married & lived for 3 more years.
